Answer

No, the mark is not a literal mark or a tattoo. When Revelation says that the mark of the beast would be in the right hand or the forehead, it is using these words as symbols. (please refer to lesson 3, Revelation's Sign Language) The "right hand" symbolizes the actions or deeds (see Ecclesiastes 9:10, Isaiah 59:6). The "forehead" symbolizes the thoughts, the mind, the heart, or the desires. When the Bible uses the phrase, "Frontlets between the eyes", it is using this phrase as a symbol for the thoughts, the mind, the heart, the desires or the decisions a person makes. (See Exodus 13:16 and Deut. 11:18)
